For a long time, I avoided hot-melt tape. I was afraid of burning something or the glue coming out. Only a few projects showed me that it’s a really helpful solution in some situations.
When I used hot-melt tape
- It was most often when: the fabric was very thick
- I wanted to additionally stabilize the top edge
- I wanted a quick and even result
The hot-melt tape helps “grip” the tape and fabric together before I even start sewing.
How I avoid problems
I always test it on a small piece of fabric. I set the iron to a moderate temperature and use a thin protective cloth.
I found good-quality, trouble-free hot-melt tapes at curtainmaker.uk. This gave me peace of mind and confidence while working.
